BC – before children

My media tale began when I somehow found myself working a sixty hour week at a regional style magazine. Writing, designing, promoting and selling – it was an all hands on deck kind of project.

From there I was poached by a cool London PR agency to work on the launch of a major new fragrance. So off to London I went to yet another sixty hour week.

Disheartened by the workings and practices of a large agency I made my way back home to become a freelance PR and writer. Work was not short due to my contacts and experience but at this time all of my clients were still in the music, fashion and clubbing industries.


I met a man; we fell in love, got married and decided to start a family. Then it dawned on me one morning at 3am whilst I was entertaining journalists and record company executives that this was no longer the life for me. Sonny was born by caesarean the following week.

So with a new baby to support I decided that it was time for a new challenge.


It started with a shoe

We have Junior magazine to thank for what happened next.

I was enviously looking at all the beautiful baby gear in their mag when I came across some really cute handmade leather shoes that I just had to have for little Sonny. A couple of weeks later whilst out shopping I saw the shoes. Oh my excitement! Anyway, they didn’t have the ones I wanted in the correct size, so I left the shop disappointed but armed with the designer’s number. I called her as soon as I got home. We got chatting and realised that we lived about ten minutes apart so off I went to collect Sonny’s shoes in person.

And the rest as they say is history. I came away not only with my beloved shoes but also with my first ‘baby’ client.

as Clear as grew steadily that year, picking up clients both through recommendation and determination.

Then came a new baby girl – the beautiful Biba, who has graced the pages of many clients’ catalogues and ads. Allowing myself two full weeks off to recover I was back at my desk at home, working hard and putting my clients products to good use. As a mum and a target demographic of all of my clients I can see the value in all of their products and so have no problem when it comes to shouting their worth to all that will listen. The first time I put Biba down to sleep in a Grobag she slept for fourteen hours. How many people do you think I have told about that?!

At the end of last year came our surprise addition, little Betty and with her an excuse for yet another new pushchair. So with our family complete and a dedicated selection of models / product testers its all systems go for as Clear as.
